- 4th Generation Aviation Environment Management White Paper
Environmental issues, particularly the impact of aircraft noise, comprise the most significant constraint on the growth potential of attractive airport businesses.
The proactive use of impact reduction approaches has resulted in significant outcomes for many airports and remains an important part of any balanced programme, however the increasing use of sophisticated tolerance-building initiatives is heralding the arrival of the new, collaborative, fourth generation aviation airport environment management.

- Isuzu - Improving the Sound Quality of Diesel Engines
In order to improve the perceived sound quality of diesel engines, Isuzu cooperated with Brüel& Kjær to develop mapping of sound quality metrics, where noise sources can be identified based on their sound character, using perception-based metrics such as loudness, sharpness and roughness. Together, they also developed a new impulsiveness algorithm to clearly identify the source of impulsive noise in diesel engines. The result of the Isuzu/Brüel & Kjær project is the world’s first commercially available sound quality metrics mapping software for beamforming and statistically Optimal Near-field Acoustic Holography (SONAH) systems. - Sound & Vibration Technology Ltd. - Strategic Partner
Sound & Vibration Technology Ltd. (SVT), located on Millbrook Proving Ground in Bedfordshire, UK, is a provider of sound and vibration test-based solutions. Its relationship with Brüel & Kjær goes back to 2003. Recently, Brüel & Kjær cooperated on a testservices project that involved making measurements on a prototype Triumph motorcycle. The purpose of the measurements was to characterise certain operating vibration levels for subsequent component durability testing. Brüel & Kjær’s PULSE LAN-XI was used to collect all the measurement data that was then post-processed using PULSE Reflex Core. Case Study

- West Toronto Diamond Project
The West Toronto Diamond Project, a large construction project located in the community, initially failed to address community concerns over noise from piling activities. After investigation the regulatory authorities stipulated the piling technology that could be used in the future and imposed operational limits and reporting requirements that significantly increased costs and extended the project by three years.
If an active monitoring programme and a Web-based community engagement programme had been established prior to construction, complaints and the subsequent lengthy delays and cost overruns may have been avoided. Case Study
