ODEON: New Version – 10.0

The latest milestone in the continuing development of room acoustics prediction and auralisation software is now available with the release of ODEON version 10. This release is another evolutionary step in the history of ODEON, bringing a range of significant enhancements and new features.

Unrivalled Array Loudspeaker Modelling
In large open spaces it is popular to use array loudspeakers and beam-steered arrays. ODEON Version 10 (Auditorium and Combined) makes it possible to model or import your own arrays and see how they interact in different rooms.

All necessary filters, equalizers, delays, etc. are included in the ODEON modelling. The visual displays include the near-field radiation pattern (see Figure above), the far-field balloon, and the SPL coverage of direct sound on the audience area. Support for array loudspeakers makes ODEON the ideal solution for room acoustics and PA design.

Advanced Modelling of Diffraction around Edges
As ODEON is increasingly used in outdoor areas or highly damped, open plan spaces, the modelling of sound propagation around objects has now been implemented. The diffraction calculation detects diffracting edges automatically, making the use of screen diffraction algorithms completely transparent to the user.

Anechoic Recordings of Orchestra Included
ODEON Version 10 takes auralisation one step further. It ships with high-quality anechoic recordings from Helsinki Technical University of each orchestra member playing four different orchestra pieces. With this library, you can now simulate symphony orchestras of different sizes and with different spatial configuration. Each musician can be placed separately and mixed into the auralisation of all the musical instruments.
